BUKIT LANJAN: Malaysians! Reject extremism, don’t let racial and religious bigots win the day

Malaysians, irrespective of race and religion, must continue to treasure national unity and harmony.

They must defend and uphold national unity and harmony to ensure their country’s continuous positive socio-economic progress.

“The political and social stability foundation must not only be solid, it must be further strengthened to enable Malaysia to drive forward progressively,” Gerakan Deputy Speaker Syed Abdul Razak Alsagoff said.

Speaking at a Phor Tor Taoist devotees bimonthly community dinner held in conjunction with Wesak Day on May 10 in Desa Jaya, Syed Razak said all peace-loving Malaysians must continue to deny bigots out to create disunity via racial and religious slurs and activities.

“If the bigots win the day, it’s the day Malaysia has failed socially and economically. We must, therefore, not allow such bigots to get the better of the majority.

“We must remain united as One Malaysians and help drive Malaysia forward by realising its full potential.This is still the single most important challenge to multi-racial, multi-ethnic and multi-religious Malaysia after 60 years of Merdeka (Independence),” he added.

Syed Razak, who is Gerakan’s nominee to contest N.37 Bukit Lanjan in the coming 14th General Election (GE14), said religious tolerance and mutual understanding and respect thus remain the key to national unity and stability.

In short, Syed Razak said, Malaysians must reject extremism, and not let extremists destroy national unity, peace and harmony.

The devotees community dinner was organised by the Selangor and Kuala Lumpur Zhong Yuan Desa Jaya Association (2009).
