BUKIT LANJAN: Use your head, not emotion, to elect your assemblyman and MP

Barisan Nasional-Gerakan’s N.37 Bukit Lanjan candidate Syed Abdul Razak Alsagoff is appealing to voters to use their “rational thinking”, not “emotion”, to decide who deserves to represent them in the next Selangor State Assembly.

“There is a distinct difference between the responsibilities of assemblymen and MPs. Assemblymen are lawmakers for a state and MPs are lawmakers for the federal level of governance.

“And there is this factor that needs to be considered … check and balance,” he added.

Speaking to Pulse Of Bukit Lanjan after his walkabout in Aman Puri on Sunday night (April 30), Syed Razak a.k.a Pek Moh (White Haired) said voters should try to identify, without emotions, and judge the candidates contesting in any particular constituency, be it state or parliamentary.

“It is not just about voting a party or coalition. It is about electing that individual to represent and serve you.

“What is the point of electing someone without considering his or her credentials and track record? For incumbents, voters can judge their performance and service track record.

“If he or she had not performed to your satisfaction, then it is time to change, no matter which party or coalition he or she comes from,” he added.

Syed Razak said there was no reason why reliable, sincere, consistent and dedicated “new faces” could not be considered from either side of the political divide.

“Please remember, there are efficient and non-efficient individuals on both sides of the political divide. As long as the majority of those elected are ‘good apples’, good decisions based on the interest of the rakyat (people) and public service will fall into place,” he added.

Pek Moh reiterated that he was prepared to serve Bukit Lanjan communities full time, if elected. “And I have only two years to do that to your satisfaction as I am bound by the Statutory Declaration that I made with Bukit Lanjan voters on Nomination Day (April 28).” (For context, read these:
